Today’s weddings are far from the days when our mothers and grandmothers were married. Although several traditions remain, there seem to be more exceptions than rules these days. Today’s couples have more freedom to plan a celebration the way they see fit. Weddings have become a beautiful and personal reflection of the couple themselves, rather than just a display of food, flowers and family. And what’s our opinion on the topic?
We say – Bring. It. On.
Over the years, it seems there’s always something about a wedding that surprises us and we were delighted to discover a world of surprises at the wedding of Glenda and Stephen. We almost felt like we were inside Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory – but not quite. Rather than candy and cookies and sweets galore, we were instead surrounded by bones. Yes, bones – you did read that correctly. Stephen and Glenda had selected the Dinosaur Room inside the Royal Ontario Museum for their ceremony and reception. It was such a deviation from what we’re used to photographing - it was one of a kind.
And Glenda and Stephen themselves, were so much fun! One of the most interesting things we noticed (outside of the dinosaurs, of course) was the two extra place settings at each table. Glenda and Stephen arranged it this way so they could table-hop during the reception, enjoying each new course among a new group of guests.
We would love to tell you every last detail about this wonderful wedding and spontaneous couple, but we’ll let the pictures do the talking instead. Though we do have to tell you we had a “first” at Glenda and Stephen’s wedding. It was the very first time we attempted photographing a bride and groom inside a rainbow colored jumping castle.
Glenda & Stephen – thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of such a unique and special day. We had a blast with the two of you. This is definitely a wedding we will never forget.
