Sometimes, in the rush, commotion and blur of a wedding day – the only things we remember are the tiny, minuscule details. Perhaps it’s because we spend most of the day looking through our camera’s lens – seeking out the details. Maybe it’s because our focus is on the small events which seem to connect each of the larger events occurring throughout the day. For whatever reason, we often find ourselves looking back through the images from a wedding, amazed with the moments we were fortunate to capture and astounded at all that took place.
The wedding of Marta and Dustin at the Toronto Botanical Garden was just this sort of occasion. We remember this amazing, glowing light that seemed to follow the two of them wherever they turned. The amazing connection between Marta and Dustin was something we may never forget. We can easily recall the bright, inviting yellow in Marta’s bridesmaids’ bouquets and the matching boutonnieres on Dustin’s groomsmen’s lapels.
All of these memories are significant parts of the day for us, and yet we wonder how many of their guests witnessed the same moments we did. We wonder what they remember. We wonder what Marta and Dustin will recall and we wonder how it’s possible these two beautiful individuals found each other in this great big world of ours.
We also remember how hard it was to turn our camera away from Marta in her elegant Vineyard Collection gown. The cascading v-shaped backline with its gently flowing waves was almost angelic. She paired the gown with an adorable pair of Kate Spade strappy back heels which complimented the dress wonderfully. The two bridesmaids had an almost 1930’s retro style glamour with their Priscilla of Boston neutral toned grey gowns accented by a simple but vibrant yellow lily bouquet – a combination we found extremely powerful.
Dustin has one of those warm, friendly, inviting faces and as the night went on, it was increasingly apparent that Marta was the reason he so generously doled out those contagious smiles of his. At times Dustin’s groomsmen, with their thin black ties and matching tie clips, were reminiscent of the early charm and charisma we saw from The Beatles and then just as easily evoked the swagger and aura of the original rat pack.
Being able to witness how close this couple was with their friends and family was so inspiring and one of the most memorable experiences of the evening for us. The entire celebration was flawlessly coordinated and put together by the amazing Melissa Somborski, of the phenomenal One Fine Day Events. We were so thrilled just to have the opportunity to photograph some of her stunning creations.
Marta & Dustin – here’s to many more memories - the smallest of details and the most important occasions – in your new lives together. Congratulations and thank you for letting us witness it all!
