As Luck Would Have It

You could say that Joel snuck his way into Michelle’s heart, but whether it was fate, luck or something in between, Joel found his way to the woman of his dreams. A few years ago, while attending the University of Toronto, Joel snuck into one of the local fraternity parties with a phony set of tickets to the party. The Gods must have had a plan that particular night though, because not only did Joel get into the party, he also met a beautiful young co-ed by the name of Michelle.

We recently had the wonderful occasion to photograph the wedding of this adorable couple at the Liberty Grand in Toronto. The ceremony, which took place in the picturesque courtyard, was adorned with bright pink rose petals, littered down the white draped aisle. The bridesmaids all wore After Six, tea-length strapless satin gowns in just the slightest hint of pink. Michelle was stunning in an ivory trumpet gown by Priscilla of Boston, with some of the most amazing jeweled accessories we’ve ever seen.

The ceremony concluded with the traditional Jewish glass-breaking and off to the reception inside the Governor’s Ballroom we went. As reception venues go, the Governor’s Ballroom is utterly over the top, but add to it the beautiful floral arrangements and décor for this particular reception, and we were left speechless! It was more than we can actually describe on this blog (although we will try!). Elaborate, crystal and gold chandeliers - elegant floor to ceiling french doors which opened from the main ballroom onto the scenic courtyard below. And to top it all off, the room was accented with oodles and oodles of pink floral centerpieces with just a touch of gold trimmings. It required a moment of pause, just to take it all in and we absolutely must give a big high-five to the wedding coordinator, Heidi Gruenspan. Amazing work Heidi.

Family and friends celebrated the occasion with several heartfelt speeches. The most touching speech of the evening though came from the groom. Both families speak both English and Spanish and have an amazing relationship with one another. It was very apparent how much Michelle and Joel’s families cared for one another and everyone else who came to bear witness and be a part of this special day.

Congratulations to you Joel & Michelle. We had a wonderful time spending the day with you and your families and couldn’t be happier for you both!
