As an international wedding photographer, I’ve had the pleasure of capturing my client’s special days in a myriad of exotic, faraway places, from Scotland, to Fiji, and everywhere in between. However, never in my life have I witnessed a place as unique, and soulful, as Saskatchewan. With its vast, sprawling wheat fields, punctuated by cute and cosy towns, the Saskatchewan area was a true visual masterpiece, and one that I was all too happy to capture for the wedding of these two wonderful people.
The couple wed at Swiss Current, Saskatchewan, on the horse farm where the bride grew up. And indeed, the exquisite horses that occupied the property were a primary feature of the day - after the ceremony, the guests were given the opportunity to feed and pet the animals while experiencing the wonder of the farm. The wedding, for me, had a touching, home-grown feel - from the fact that the bride’s dress was lovingly hand-sewn by her Mom, to the fact that the couple had their first dance at sunset; with their feet grazing a place that held so many beautiful memories for them, both past and present.
