If anyone is of the belief that romance is dead, they would immediately rescind this belief upon hearing the spectacular story of this groom’s proposal. After flying the bride-to-be to the Maldives for a week of sumptuous luxury and decadent activities, the groom got down on one knee over a champagne dinner; complete with lobster and the bride’s favourite dessert, dairy free crème brulee! Perhaps serendipitously, during the proposal, the groom’s late mother’s favourite song was playing – a sign, the couple thought, that she was giving her blessing from afar on this divine occasion.
The incredible romance shown throughout the proposal continued, of course, on the couple’s wedding day, which was held at the beautiful George Restaurant. The groom had many surprises in store for his blushing bride – firstly, he wore a stylish bow-tie, something he had previously refused to do, and then he organized to have her whisked away, like the princess he knew she was, in a vintage Rolls Royce.
The wedding ceremony and reception were as spectacular as they were romantic. Themed ‘French Romance,’ the colour palette that the couple chose was a delicate combination of whites, golds and greys that looked positively radiant in the incandescent candlelight that illuminated the intimate affair. The couple paid incredible attention to detail when planning the event – from carefully selecting wine pairings for their exquisite 5 course tasting menu, to selecting a gorgeous mirrored runner for their long harvest tables, to ensuring that their wedding occurred in June, so that the bride could have peonies, her favourite flowers, in her bouquet. All I can say is thank you to the incredible Malvina of Fabulous Occasions for introducing me to this amazing couple, and giving me the opportunity to witness such true, and lasting, romance.
